NCIS: Origins will join the ever-expanding NCIS franchise.
The NCIS prequel will be set in 1991, roughly 12 years before the mothership premiered, and take a look at Gibbs’ career in the Navy’s criminal investigations branch.
According to Deadline, Gibbs begins his career as a special agent at the NIS Camp Pendleton office where he works to earn his place on a team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.

The new show will be narrated by Mark Harmon.
Stowell is known for starring opposite Lucy Hale in the 2021 rom-com, The Hating Game. The 39-year-old actor also starred in Hulu’s Catch-22 and feature films Bridge of Spies, Battle of the Sexes, and Whiplash. He also starred in an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles.
The casting news comes shortly after CBS announced a yet-to-be named series featuring Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, which is set to stream on Paramount +.
