Sarah Ferguson gives heartbreaking update about second cancer diagnosis – its been ‘distressing’

Sarah Ferguson who is best known as her nickname Fergie announced her cancer diagnosis and subsequent surgery last year. Now, it has been revealed that she is dealing with a cancer battle yer again.

Sarah Ferguson had to get his moles removed and analysed while she had reconstructive surgery due to undergoing a mastectomy, according to her spokesman.

He reported that the duchess “remains in good spirits”, even though they have been “distressing” circumstances considering this is her second cancer diagnosis in two years.

She is the third royal to have had a medical procedure announced this week.

Her spokesperson related, “Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analysed at the same time as the duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous.”

They added, “She is undergoing further investigations to ensure that this has been caught in the early stages.

“The duchess wants to thank the entire medical team which has supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was. She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, colour and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma,” the spokesperson shared.

The statement also thanked all medical personnel who helped care for her during this time.

According to sources close to the duchess, she is back in the UK after initially recuperating from the procedures in Austria.

A second cancer diagnosis in the span of six months is a tough thing to deal with but according to sources close to her, she is resilient and has been receiving a lot of care and support from her loved ones.

She has always shown a remarkable grit when it comes to bouncing back from adverse circumstances.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer last year following a routine mammogram screening. She was very public about her diagnosis and subsequent treatment, urging other women to also make it a habit to prioroitize their health and check ups. She talked about it openly on her podcast, hoping to use her story as a message for some awareness.

She underwent a single mastectomy at King Edward VII hospital in London, a private clinic which is used often by senior royals.

Late last year, she made guest appearances as a presenter on ITV’s This Morning. She has had an illustrious career with a lot of interests, even becoming a successful author in between.

She did not attend the Coronation in May but was seen walking to the church with the rest of the Royal Family at Christmas, after more than 30 years.

The 64-year-old Duchess was married to the Duke of York, Prince Andrew for 10 years before they divorced in 1996. They continued to share a home at the Royal Lodge – a property owned by the Crown Estate. She shares two daughters with the Duke of York; Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. She also has three grandchildren.
