“She’s an interesting character she needed someone who can match her,” MacDowell told Drew Barrymore on Wednesday
Andie MacDowell is one happy mother-of-the-bride.
During an appearance Wednesday on The Drew Barrymore Show while promoting her season 2 of her Hallmark series The Way Home, the actress, 65, opened up about her daughter Margaret Qualley’s August wedding to music producer Jack Antonoff.
“He’s so nice. They’re really good together….they’re fun and very well matched,” MacDowell told Barrymore.
When Barrymore asked how the actress felt watching her daughter walk down the aisle, MacDowell described the celebration as “beautiful.”
“I feel very lucky that she ended up with someone who suits her,” MacDowell continued. “She’s an interesting character; she needed someone who can match her. She’s brilliant too, she’s very artistic.”
The Maid star, 29, and her music producer fiancé, 39, married in a star-studded ceremony in New Jersey last August, attended by celebrity guests including Taylor Swift, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz, Cara Delevingne and Lana Del Rey.
Qualley was photographed holding hands with her husband, and later arriving at a post-wedding party, wearing a custom white Chanel halter wedding dress and matching white custom Chanel Mary Jane flats. Her hair was styled in a short bob. The Bleachers frontman sported a classic black suit and tie for the occasion.
MacDowell wore a a Cynthia Rowley floral-print maxi dress decorated with a flower ornament at the waist for the big day.
Qualley and Antonoffgot engaged in May 2022. A source confirmed the news to PEOPLE after Qualley sparked speculation earlier that same month when she was spotted sporting a diamond sparkler on her left ring finger at the Cannes Film Festival, where she was promoting her film Stars at Noon.
The pair began dating in the summer of 2021 — and were even spotted kissing during a Saturday stroll in N.Y.C. at the time.
They went public with their romance in early 2022, making their debut as a couple at the AFI Awards Luncheon in March before attending the Critics’ Choice Awards — where Maid was up for best limited series. Qualley later shared a few photos from their evening with the simple caption, “Date night.”
