Rumer Willis gives health update on dad Bruce amid aphasia and dementia battles
Rumer Willis updated fans on the condition of her dad, Bruce Willis, as he continues to live with frontotemporal dementia.
“He is great,” she wrote on her Instagram Story Friday as part of a Q&A. “I love him so much. Thank you.”
The 35-year-old actress shared the update over a photo of her holding hands with Bruce, 69.
The “Die Hard” actor retired from acting in March 2022 when his family revealed he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a rare form of dementia that causes people to have trouble speaking and remembering information.
In February 2023, though, his family — which consists of his ex-wife, Demi Moore, his current wife, Emma Heming, and his five daughters — announced he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which causes speech and behavioral issues.
Rumer gave an update on her father’s health in May while appearing on the “Today” show.
“He’s so good. I actually got to see him right before I came out [to New York],” she said.
She also raved over his relationship with her 1-year-old daughter, Louetta.
“And Lou is just starting to walk a little bit, and she was walking over to him, and it was so sweet,” she remembered.
Rumer shares Louetta with her ex, Derek Richard Thomas. She revealed during the same Q&A Friday that they were no longer together.
“I am single momming it and co-parenting,” she confirmed.
“I’m so grateful for Lou. She is the best thing in my life and I am forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life.”
She and Thomas welcomed their daughter in April 2023 after going Instagram official in November 2022.
Rumer also said she plans to have six to seven kids and is “definitely” open to welcoming another child as a single mother.
