Earlier this year, Hollywood A-lister George Clooney visited Jimmy Kimmel Live and left Kimmel stunned. It was revealed that the actor had experienced Bell’s palsy, a temporary paralysis of one side of the face, for a brief period during his teens. When he appeared on the show for its 20th anniversary, Kimmel included a segment where he humorously roasted Clooney’s childhood pictures. As he progressed to Clooney’s teenage years, Clooney dropped the bombshell revelation that left everyone speechless.
George Clooney Had Bell’s Palsy Growing Up!
During a segment of the 20th-anniversary episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel showcased throwback photos of the first-ever guests who graced the talk show, first presenting Snoop Dogg’s retro snapshots and then delving into George Clooney’s memorable moments, and that is where the trouble began.
The second picture of Clooney in the roaster, taken during high school, displayed him with a tilted smile as Kimmel humorously riffed through the images, cracking silly jokes. Clooney quickly jumped and said,
“Now wait, I want to point out something, because you’re going to laugh, gonna make a joke. I have Bell’s palsy there and half of my face is paralyzed.”
“Look at this, watch this. If you go like this, on the other side, it’s a completely different face. So now make your joke. Come on, funny man. Come on, let me give you my sad face.”
To this Kimmel had a very clever response he said,
“You know what? I didn’t have a joke, George, and you really brought everybody down, let’s have another toast to bring things back up,”
While the situation may appear comical, Bell’s palsy affects approximately 1 in 60 individuals. The cause of this paralysis is unknown, but it is believed to be triggered by factors such as sleep deprivation, and stress, among others.
George Clooney Had to Be Hospitalized Due to Weight Loss for This Film
Following his weight loss of 25 pounds for his role in the film The Midnight Sky, George Clooney disclosed that he had to be admitted several days in the hospital. He claimed to Mirror,
“I think I was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself, It took a few weeks to get better and as a director, it’s not so easy because you need energy. We were out on this glacier in Finland, which made it a lot harder to work. But it certainly helped with the character”
Allegedly, just four days before filming was scheduled to commence, Clooney was hurried to the hospital and diagnosed with pancreatitis.
Additionally, the actor also encountered a medical crisis in the summer of 2018 when he was involved in a motorcycle accident while filming his Hulu series Catch-22 in Italy.
