Kate Middleton and Prince William skip Easter service as she continues to battle cancer

Kate Middleton skipped the annual Easter church service Sunday as she continues to battle cancer.

As expected, the Princess of Wales did not attend the event at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor along with members of the royal family.

The Prince of Wales, as well as the couple’s three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, were also absent as the family of five was expected to do a private holiday celebration at their Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk.

It’s unclear when Middleton will step out next amid her ongoing health woes. However, before she announced her diagnosis in a video message shared earlier this month, the palace said she would be “unlikely to return to public duties” until after Easter.

Her last public appearance was on Christmas 2023 as she attended the morning service with her family.

Amid a flurry of outrageous conspiracy theories about her absence from royal duties, Middleton revealed on March 22 that she’s in the early stages of chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with cancer.

She did not reveal the severity of the cancer or what type of cancer she has at the time.

In a solemn video, the 42-year-old — who underwent abdominal surgery in January — said the news “came as a huge shock” to her and the family.

“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said, explaining that they wanted to tell their kids the news before it became public knowledge.

“I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body and spirits,” she continued, adding that William has been a “great source of comfort and reassurance.”

While the royal couple sat out Sunday’s festivities, King Charles III — who has also been battling cancer since February — made his first major appearance since his diagnosis at the service.
