NCIS: Tony & Ziva Can’t Miss the Opportunity to Bring an OG Character Back
Tony and Ziva’s adventures in Europe won’t be that exciting without their friends’ support.
NCIS ’ franchise is getting prepared for a major comeback later this year since it’s set to arrive on CBS with its brand new season 22 and two more spinoffs recounting the stories of the show’s most beloved characters.
Coming as a completely different installment compared to what NCIS’ other spinoffs used to be like, NCIS: Tony & Ziva will take a closer look at Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David’s life and work in Europe after both eventually quit NCIS and thus will consider their relationship and family drama the core of the whole show.
However, the spinoff is expected to not be obsessed with Tony and Ziva so much since the original show’s other characters might be introduced as well, adding more dynamics to the storyline.
Nothing about this idea has been confirmed or disproved yet, but fans are having their fingers crossed for Jimmy Palmer’s appearance in NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Both introduced in NCIS’ season 1, Jimmy and Tony have come a long way developing their relationships and eventually becoming good friends.
Since Jimmy has always been on good terms with Ziva too, him paying a visit to the couple somewhere in Europe won’t come as a big surprise considering that Tony and Ziva aren’t a part of the MCRT anymore and it’s been years since they last saw their colleagues.
Additionally, Jimmy is also likely to show up sometime in the upcoming show not as the lead characters’ friend, but as a professional in forensic science. Given that Tony and Ziva so far have no plans for having a rest from crime cases, Jimmy may come as a helping hand for his former colleagues, which is also a good excuse for them to have some fun while on a European vacation.
When Will NCIS: Tony & Ziva Release?
NCIS: Tony & Ziva has no official release date yet and is currently in development, which is proof that there’s no real trouble for the creators to add Jimmy Palmer to the plot line (if he’s still not there), especially since the character’s actor is more than down for it.
A while ago, Brian Dietzen, who in the original show portrays Jimmy Palmer, revealed that he hadn’t received such an offer yet, but he would be definitely interested in reprising his role for NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
The actor also added that, considering the future show’s different format which won’t follow a case-of-the week formula, he would be thrilled to try something completely new.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva will be released on Paramount+ this fall or later this year.
